Blimp Tips

Firstly almost all blimps, especially small ones like these will be, are slightly negatively buoyant. Drive you blimp up with fans, thrust vectoring, lifting body with fins. We will be playing outside, you don't want your blimp drifting off into the sky with all your electronics and work in it (Plus CAA would be grumpy with us)

We have found that if you heat seal the open end of a light weight thin black rubbish bag and fill that, you can lift about 60 grams of payload. We upped the weight limit for people who wanted to go to more work to build a nicer envelope or carry a little more gear. Note that you should still be able to build a competitive blimp with just the rubbish bag envelope (Heck its probably what I'll be doing)

Your weapons will need to be light weight, even is not that much so don't go overboard, I suggest keeping it simple.

Lastly we will be playing outside, probably in the tennis courts on Ilam field. Make sure you blimp can handle a little breeze! (this is much harder than it sounds) If it is too windy will will scrub and go to the next day or weekend depending how the weather is looking.
